Race Car Birthday Party
When coming up with the theming for Linc’s sixth birthday, I knew his love of Hot Wheels needed to be brought to life. He absolutely loved the idea of celebrating with our family as the main guest of a Hot Wheels Race Car Party. I wanted to dive headfirst into his love for all things Hot Wheels. Imagine a world where race cars rule and the colors are as vibrant as those sleek rides – that was the vision! I leaned into shades that represented the Hot Wheels logo and used checkered flags which together all represented that old toy nostalgia of Hot Wheels that little guys adore.

What makes the décor for this Hot Wheels race car bash so awesome? It’s got all the thrills and spills of race cars without going overboard on the flashy stuff you’d expect from a character theme. It’s like capturing the essence of zooming race cars with a touch of laid-back cool.

The checkered flag details really set this party up with the perfect flair of fun for our little speedster! Race Car Party Favors
I’m all about recognizing the time that our friends and fam carve out of their weekends to party with us for our guys’ birthdays. So it’s important to me that we always send them home with pretty rad party favors—it’s like a little piece of the celebration they can take with them that won’t get immediately thrown out!
I couldn’t resist all the nostalgic touches throughout this party so of course when it came to the favors, we went with mini trophies, Black sunglasses, a custom name car keychain, and of course – a Hot Wheels car! I picked up plastic bakery boxes to box up the mini trophies and Hot Wheels and then added a little magic to the boxes with custom confetti. I ordered these black and white checkered gable boxes for the sunglasses, keychain, and a snack for the road!
Race Car Party Decor
When it comes to the decorations, I like to DIY as much as I can in an effort to save money & fulfill my creative energy! I designed a custom printable set with invitations, thank you tags, signs, food labels, and straw flags to match the boutique style and simplistic theming of the other party supplies.

I love how the checkered flag and silver star garland accentuated Linc’s Speedway party banner!
I set up this perfect backdrop to the kids’ tables using DIY arches we had cut out from my baby shower and added a balloon garland with the party’s color palette! Peep that super cute checkered number balloon – my fave!
Kid Tables
Like party favors, I love making our little guests feel special with their own place to snack, do activities, and chill. So, I put most of my time and planning into coordinating kid tables! I’m using my FAVORITE party planning hack that I created last year: DIY foldable kids’ table! Using the LINNMON table top from IKEA and these folding table legs, I created gorgeous, reusable, easy-to-store tables for all of our parties!
As with the rest of this party, I love how simplistic yet, totally themed these table designs turned out! The trophy cups were A HIT and SO loved by the kids were SO loved by all of the kids! I stacked inexpensive solid-colored plates with a checkered napkin and dessert plate which all sat atop the most adorable race car coloring placemat!

If there’s one thing Linc LOVES to do, it’s color and draw. He definitely got his mama’s creator bug! I created these custom placemats for the kids to color and draw as an activity once they finished snacking & racing their cars!
